Born in 1993 in Portland, Oregon, American composer and saxophonist Aidan Clare Ramsay has had a strong fascination with the surreal from a young age. As a composer and performer, he draws on influences from experimental jazz, industrial rock, and drone metal in addition to influences from 20th and 21st century experimental classical music. His work is primarily focused on the manipulation of timbre and perceived space—that is to say, how an audience envisions the space a work occupies, regardless of the physical space the musicians who performed it occupied.

Ramsay holds a B.Mus in Music Composition from The University of Oregon, where he studied with Terry McQuilkin, David Crumb, and Robert Kyr, as well as a M.M. in Music Composition from Boston University, where he studied with Joshua Fineberg. He has worked with ensembles such JACK Quartet, Ensemble Corvus, Sound of Late, and Sound Icon.

In addition to his work as a composer and saxophonist, Aidan Ramsay also teaches Music Theory at The Community Music Center of Boston. He lives in Boston.
